Jim retired to Edisto Beach after over 40 years as CEO in the manufacturing industry, 25 of those years as founder/owner of his own company. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kathy, who is our worship leader. Besides his role as business manager, Jim serves as the church handyman and Kathy’s favorite sound technician.

Kathy has lived on Edisto Beach since 2016.  She and husband, Jim, are blessed to have two grown sons, two loving daughters-in-law and five beautiful grandchildren all living in South Carolina.

She has been involved with choirs, ensembles and praise teams for over 20 years.  Kathy has been the worship leader at Edisto Beach Baptist since December, 2019.

Sheila Smart has called Edisto Beach home since 2016. She watched the town excavate sand from her street that September after hurricane Matthew deposited the silica 6-feet deep from end to end in his aftermath. Welcome to the Sandbar, Sheila!

Sheila arrived from the upstate as quickly as possible and began calling the Sandbar and Edisto Beach Baptist home soon thereafter. She has been a wife, mother, computer guru and pianist over the coarse of her life, providing keyboard accompaniment for the music ministry at Edisto Beach Baptist for the past 2+ years.

Tamma and Thad have been married going on 30 years.  She has been involved in ministry since meeting Thad in 1990.

Through the years, she has worked with children, students, single and married adults.  She has been there with Thad through his roles as staff pastor, church planter, lead pastor and church re-starter.

She is a mother, photographer, businesswoman and, currently, temporary administrative assistant.  She enjoys walking, cooking, biking, taking care of Maggie the Labrador Retriever and watching Edisto sunsets.

T. Thad hails from Gainesville, GA but his roots run through South Carolina.  Parts of his long-ago relatives moved to Georgia from Carolina.

He is a graduate of Columbia International University (Columbia, SC) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX.  His first Labrador Retriever, Lucy, was a Texan.  Hook ‘em Horns!

Thad is married to Tamma.  They have one daughter and one Lab, Maggie.  Go Dawgs!  Sic ‘em!  Woof!  (Yes, he is a UGA fan).

Professionally, Thad has pastored, led student ministry, single adult ministry and started two churches (The Church at Catoosa and North Shore Church).  He is a professional talker.

Thad rides a Harley, drinks coffee, loves ice cream, tinkers with mechanical stuff and walks all over the place while using multiple hands-free devices with the cellphone.  If you see him wandering the Sandbar “talking to himself” do not call the psyche ward, he is on the phone.
